To CD, or not to CD?

To CD, or not to CD? That was the question.

One of the reasons we made the musical comedy album was so the score would exist in the world. But does an album exist if you can’t pick it up?

I suppose. Maybe, kinda. But we wanted — I wanted — something tangible. Vinyl was too expensive — though it would have been cool. CDs were the obvious way to go.

When I discussed the issue with my daughter, she said, “Mom! Don’t make CDs. No one listens to CDs. I don’t even have a way to listen to a CD. If you make CDs…” She didn’t finish the sentence, but the subtext was clear: If we made CDs, people were going to know I was a dinosaur.

We made CDs. I have 200 of them sitting on my desk, taking up space. But they’re beautiful.

Stream the album (and imagine you’re listening on a CD player).
